Augusta has over 30 years of quilting and teaching experience. She made her first quilt in 1979, her instructor moved and Augusta was asked to teach the class. She has been teaching ever since. Augusta has been on the Board for the North Carolina Quilt Symposium. In 1984, she moved to Richmond and became active in the local quilting groups, serving as President of the Virginia Consortium of Quilters, the statewide group. She has taught at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival as well as the Pennsylvania National Extravaganza and the Quilt Fest of New Jersey. She taught at the North Carolina Quilt Symposium. Augusta is know as the "scrappy" lady because many of her workshops are snappy and scrappy. She gives lectures that include her collection of quilts and her love for the art of quilt making. Augusta”s motto is "Variety is the SPICE of Life."
